Bachelor's program in Molecular Biology
The Bachelor's degree course in Molecular Biology deals with fundamental questions about biochemical and molecular biological processes in living organisms. In the first semesters, students are taught basic theoretical and practical knowledge in the subjects of microbiology, molecular and cell biology, biochemistry and genetics. The course is very practice-oriented - students carry out their own experiments in all subject areas as part of laboratory exercises.
Since the 2013/2014 academic year, there has been an admission procedure for the Bachelor's degree course in Molecular Biology.
Master programs
After successfully completing the Bachelor's degree program in Molecular Biology, there are three Master's degree programs to choose from. These deepen the knowledge previously acquired. This course conveys the current state of science both in theory and especially in the form of extensive practical exercises and enables students to carry out independent scientific work. Students have the opportunity to determine their own focus of interest in various specialist areas in the form of selectable modules. Particularly noteworthy is the involvement of students in current research projects carried out in working groups led by renowned scientists.
The introduction to the world of science takes place in the modules and especially in the project laboratories and in the Master's thesis.
Curriculum Biochemistry and Molecular Biomedicine
The Master's degree program in Molecular Microbiology provides in-depth knowledge in the field of microbiology with a focus on molecular cell biology, bacteriology - especially with the medically relevant aspects of infection biology - and environmental microbiology.
The Master's degree program in Biochemistry and Molecular Biomedicine has a strong interdisciplinary focus and is located at the interface between biology, chemistry and medicine. The emphasis is on future-oriented disciplines of medical biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and structural biology as well as enzymology.
As a key technology of this century, biotechnology deals with the use of biosystems for the realization of applications in industry, agriculture, the environment and medicine. One focus is the interdisciplinary development of skills for the integral processing of biosystems for technological applications.
